Volunteering
There is so much work that goes behind the scenes at North Elmsley Public School to help make our daily routines, fun activities, and special events run smoothly. Our students and staff appreciate all the incredible effort that our volunteers put in to help make our school such a wonderful place.

If you are interested in volunteering or supporting school activities, please contact the school office for more information on how you can get involved!

All volunteers who may interact with students are required to have a Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSC) from your local police service on file with the school prior to volunteering. The check must be dated within six months of the start of your volunteer service. Volunteers will be required to complete a Yearly Offence Declaration at the school each school year following the completion of their original check. The original check is good for five years.

In some cases, volunteers who do not have direct interaction with students but are regularly present in the school and supervised by staff may be required to complete a Judicial Matters Check instead of a Vulnerable Sector Check. The school will provide guidance on the appropriate level of screening based on the role.

To obtain either of these police checks, volunteers will be required to provide a letter to their local police service from the school confirming the volunteer opportunity, name of volunteer, and date of birth.

Please note that processing times for Police Record Checks through municipal police services or the OPP can take time, so volunteers are encouraged to apply early if they wish to participate during the school year. Individuals without a valid check on file will not be able to participate in volunteer activities.
